Free poker tournaments are every day competitions that take place on a lot of the best net poker rooms. Freerolls are greatly favored by the poker playing community as they offer the poker competitors the chance to aquire some real cash without losing any. The buyin to these freerolls is – as the name suggests – free and prize $$$$$ can range from a few dollars for placing to hundreds of dollars for winning the huge freeroll holdem poker tournaments.
So why do the poker web sites have free tournaments? Is it because of their incredibly altruistic makeup and the reality that they acquire vast sums of $$$$ so they have a societal requirement to allot some of it back?

No certainly it is not, the reason that the great poker sites provide free tournaments is to attract folks to their website.
Here’s the idea in a nutshell – You hear that a site has a great freeroll, it charges you nada to participate in and you will be able to capture $100. You think "awesome!" and you go along to the poker room and join as a member so you can bet on the freeroll. You gamble and finish quickly and are ticked off because you perceive you should have performed much better, or you get near the end and so you’re looking for some additional play. So what happens? You bet some $$$$$ at the poker room and play another poker match!
Make sure to check out the freerolls for cash-out requirements, you will nearly always have to participate in a few hands for real cash before they allow you take the money out. Often this is on a one to one basis, so if you come away with twenty dollars at the no cost poker tournament you will have to have wagered for twenty dollars in actual $$$$$ in order for you to be able to claim the money.
