Web poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variants on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the house instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the croupier saying "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the other players attain five cards each. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to either make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s value is equal to your original bet, meaning that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your bet goes instantaneously to the house. After the wager is the showdown. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, plus a figure on par with the original bet. If the house does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pony’s up chips even with your bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
